you can check my clips in the exhaust thread, im running hooker long tubes and 40 series flows with a 331. no x or h pipe action, just dumped straight out before the tires. sounds like a snarling beast.

im running headers on my 5.0 it fukin screams and is loud as ***.. i have to take off slow so it doesn't scare me in the morning... idle is bad *** though and free-reving it with no load on it sounds mean but give it a load and it sounds like a$s... soon as i get my tig back im going to weld up my pipes.. i cut out my cats... i'd recommend if you don't have emmisions don't run em, trust me you'll thank me later

Since you were wanting to go open headers in the first place, I'm assuming you do not have emissions or care about how loud/smelly it is. Why go with any catted system? O/R H or X and dumps FTW

If you can run open headers where you live i would stick without running your cats....stick with everything else though....get better flow and better sound....

so your saying just get the 40 series flows with O/R H-pipe then just have them dumped like near the rear axle or what?

well it sounded to me like he kinda wanted the loud *** unsophisticated sound of open headers (they do sound sweet)

you can use something like these:

they will give you *a little* backpressure and will tone it down just enough. i know everyone sh*ts on glasspacks around here, but these are the kinds of cans the old school muscle guys used to get the old school muscle sound we all love.

something like this would be way more raw and raunchy than flows (which also sound awsome, but in their own right)

plus, they are cheeep so if you dont like you can take em off.... of cut the turndowns off and start the rest of your exhaust system from the back of these.
