Just bought A 91, 5.0 HO. Ran perfect, had the A/C charged. Got home and the check engine light come's on, Idle goes to 2200. I unplugged the TPS, And the idle went to normal. Okay I'll drive the 10 mile's to town with it unplugged. Oh that was wrong. It was in overdrive by 25 MPH, Plus A delayed shift from 3rd to overdrive. Anyhow I assume TPS since it idle's back down when I unplug it. As fool's dive in I ordered A 60 dollar TPS tonight. How do you get flash code's outta these thing's? I'am picking up the TPS tomorow, Along with A service manual. I will conquer this thing, And will post the answer. But if anyone has had this problem I'am open to idea's. Thank's. Anserwing my own post, But got her fixed. It was the TPS, But the shifting problem was caused by the guy who charged my A/C. He broke the TV cable retainer when he was working on it. It was unhooked. I found it tonight. I rigged it to work with A piece of A ballpoint pen, Black tape, And A piece of wire. She shifted perfect. I'll get the correct part tommorow. Man the ole 5.0 smoked the tire's when all was right. Just posting this for anyone running into simialer problem's. If the TV cable doesn't work the transmission has no idea where the throttle is which in turn it won't increase transmission oil pressure as needed. I've been A factory trained technician sice 1978, So I do know A little. Just willing to help anyone who want's it. My profile is wrong. My email is timorender@yahoo.com.
