Default 3" or 2.5 inch exhast

On my 89 5.0 i just put in a motorsport E303 and folw tech long tube headers with 1and 5/8 tubes and 3 inch colectors. Should i use 3" or 2.5" pipe to my mufflers. I have flomaster mufflers with 2.5 in's and out's. The mufflers are stainless so i plan on keeping them. So do i reduce the pipe at the header or at the muffler. Or cut the muffler to fit the 3". What are my gains or losses. thanks

why did you get headers with a 3" collector? just reduce it where ever its easiest because i doubt you have the hp to need 3" exhaust.

use 3", you will loose a bit of low end torque.
