I've heard that the T-5s don't have a lot of support for the center of the gear cluster and this causes 3rd gear to go out quite often. I know it has happened to me and a friend of mine. A couple of years ago Mustang Monthly had an article about it. They showed a picture of about 10 scrapped T5s with the covers removedand they all had chewed up third gears.

i shift exactly like dimebag does with the exception of my foot never lifts even a millimeter when i shift, my foot stays firm on the floor... and as for 3th always going out thats because it's the hardest for people to hit

yea... i was gonna put my whole opinion on the t5 in here, but me and lenny(94gtcoupe) both have the same out look on the t5. its not the trans its the driver... when i bought my car, dude before me ****ed the syncros up. so i replaced it with another stock t5, knowing at the time i was gonna shoot for 300whp... now im shooting for 400whp(yea its still stock, but plans changed... turbo). i have no problem trusting my trans. this is a DD that street races ocasionally, and sees the track almost weekly... if u saw how i shifted... youd wonder how it holds up.. idk what gear im goin in, i never let off the throttle compleetly. 1st-2nd, i lift about a half inch, 2-3, maybe a little more. 3-4, same as 1-2.... but i never let out before its ingear... bitch never grinds... i have full faith in mine.
