Default too much oil cause problems?

i just put an oil cooler on and put in more oil than normal because i thought the cooler would take an extra quart. when i read the dipstick it's too much. will this cause any problems? i really don't want to drain some out if i don't have to. it's messy

the dipstick will read high until you start it and fill the filter, and the cooler

While there is too much oil in the engine, high pressure may develop in the crankcase, you can get oil leakage through the oil pan gasket and other engine seals. You mightnotice reduced gas mileage when the oil level is too high...it's possible that the crankshaftwould splash in the oil, which makes it work harder. And that splashing could cause the oil to foam up, which could cause the oil pressure in the crankcase to drop and perhaps lead to premature engine wear or even damage. But usuallytoo much oil just makes a mess.

As stated above, let the filter and cooler fill up and run and check it later. If it's still too high, then drain it.

ok. i'm gonna drain it if it's too high still. i don't think i can keep it too full, it would end up driving me nuts knowing it's like that...

my oil pressure is around 40-50 even at idle now. is that because of the increased restriction from the oil cooler? i guess thats a good thing

LOL ull be fine i use to work at Time it lube back in the days and people would bring in there cars for an oil change and there would be like 7qts of oil if not more in that bit** and we would ask them u know u got way to much oil in there and they be like well its been 10k miles since my last oil change so i figured adding new oil would be better then nothing!!! LOL but anyways not sure if they had motor problems down the road but after we drained and filled they would crank and go.

It's called windaging and it robs power. U'll foam the oil and drop pressures. No it won't blow seals. The only way ur crankcase pressure is gonna get that high is if the pcv doesn't work.

sounds like the cooler is working then if pressure is increasing. probably have some bottom end wear but thats something any high mileage fox body should see.

ive been looking into oil coolers, think u could send me a link or tell me what u used?
