RE: should u run a bigger oil pan with hv oil pump
Learn somethin new every day, although I don't agree about needing oil on the crank. I've always been taught not too have oil on it to reduce parisitic loss. Plus the crank is already oiled through the oil system.

Think about this though, how much parasitic loss do you think there is from like 2g of oil?(on a crank that already weighs a crapload)Yeah, the crank is oiled by the oiling system, for the sake of the bearings, and what gets out from the bearings is flung off the crank, and onto the cylinder walls(among other things), but the extra oil coming down from the top(which also lubricates the cam) isn't all that much. And when you consider the tremendous cooling effect that oil has on moving parts as it carries heat away....there's not much power to be had there. The real benefit is from properly lubricating the engine by having good oil control, you make more power longer if the engine is better lubricated rather than running parts hotter and possibly burning things up. Dragging a crank through oil will kill you on power though, that's why a good pan is essential for making power, not only do you not waste power dragging the crank through the oil, but you're less likely to fling oil away from the pickup, or overload the oil rings by throwing too much oil onto the cylinder walls. In the end, a good pan is 10x better than a good windage tray

to cut thru the bullcrap and snswer his question. YES you can get a windage tray for stock oil pans. i had a ford racing tray in my II. the stock pan on my car was extremely tight where it goes over the crossmember so i had to cut the tray down where it would only cover over the large sump area but it works.
they also make crank "scrapers" that help with all this, heres a pic of a scraper on a yoda motor
and btw extra capacity is worth the money, i'd pick up on that larger pan if you can. why? more oil equals cooler oil since any given drop of oil is spending more time in the pan and not circulating thru a hot motor. also most large capacity pans have baffles and such built in to keep the oil where it belongs
