Need a little help. Until now, I have basically done all of my troubleshooting by ear and experience. Needless to say, I'm sure I've spent money in the past that could have been avoided by pulling the codes first. I pulled codes on one of my cars today (92 LX 5.0 vert). The car is running fine, but thought I'd pull them anyway since I had bought the scanner. I got two codes off of it (KOER), code 12 and code 18. My guess on the code 12 is I need to clean my idle bypass valve. No clue on the 18, though. Any ideas on either code?

18 - Spark Out (SPOUT) Circuit Open (R), Loss Of Ignition Diagnostic Module Input To PCM/SPOUT Circuit Grounded (M)

Did you run the car with the SPOUT disconnected?.......is it connected?....you should clear the codes, do a test drive (5-10 minutes) and recheck for KOEO codes and run a KOER self-test.

 

The only time I had the SPOUT out was when I have set the timing. My KOEO codes came back 11 (no problems). I'll clear the codes today then drive it and retest. Thanks.
