I mean, when ya crank it to re-start it does it do anything at all? Pop, backfire, anything?

Nothing, just cranked. Oil pressure was good during the idle, too.

I should I add I did make a mistake by playing around with the distributor with the spout connector in.

When the car was idling I played around with the distributor with the spout connector in...I forgot to remove it.

That wouldn't matter. Have you checked for fuel and spark? Have you rechecked to be sure the dizzy is in right?

I got the distributor back in with the rotor pointing exactly where it was when I took it out. Removing/installing that thing makes me really uneasy.

Well... That would be a good place to start, but I would still expect a pop or something...

Check for spark, then if you have none make sure the rotor is spinning (as weird as it sounds, it could have killed a distributor gear or broken the shaft out of the blue). Then start doing the harder checks...

edit: If ya saw that, sorry.. If ya didn't... Cool.
