but doesnt the autometer tach get hooked up to the same wire like the stocker i dont remember its been a while since i hooked one up

I have the Autometer directly plugged to my MSD 6AL Box.....

My stock tach reads just about 1000 at idle (just shy of the line) but at the same time, my Twecer RT shows around 825 at idle.
