coolant temp sensor

Default coolant temp sensor

i picked up a new coolant temp sensor the other day, and i was wondering if i should put some tefolon tape aroudn the threads before i put it in, or just leave it go and put it in, just wondering, thanks a lot!

always put teflon tape around the threads, and be careful not to wrap the sensor up with the tape. start the tape line a quarter inch above the beginning of the threads and that should be fine.

yup, is always a good thing to use... just make sure your not breaking a ground for anything, in thise case you wont be............. i had a prob with some sensor in a camaro, i bought it and still wouldnt work.... come to find out the tape was makin it not ground.. but i always use that stuff when needed

Oh yes, the temp sensor.. It isn't that hard on our cars, I had to install a new one on a 1991 Camaro RS, what a pain in the ****...

Yeah use the tape if you don't want the sensor to work. t uses pipe threads which seal themselves because they're tapered. IF you use the tape, then the sensor won't ground and won't read properly...or is that on temp switches...shoot...I don't know.
