Is it hard to change a real main seal ... i know you have to drop the tranny out and that BS but has anyone ever done one ?

Yeah theyre nothing.Pop one out and pop the other in.

Its rather sad actually all the **** you go through to change the damn thing.

Just be glad its not of the old days like my block (1980) and a two peice those are a bit more involved and have tendancy of leaking no matter what although mine doesnt and hasnt.

I would advise you check really damn closely to make sure the leak is coming from the rear main seal before you decide to change it as the time required to drop the tranny and expose it is substantial and you don't want to do it unless you know for sure the rear main is truly leaking. I changed mine when I changed the tranny and it had over 100,000 miles on it and wasn't leaking a bit but I did it anyway just on general principles since I had already the tranny out.
