RE: FRPP 351w sportsman block
joel... I like you and all... your a smart guy... but there aint no way in HELL that your gonna lose 120hp in drivetrain loss
550rwhp would equate to about 590-600BHP on a t5 backed car, maybe 620 on a c4 like jasper wants to run

......"(and again, those are only numbers)".....missed that one?.........yup manual tranny setups will loose less, used the extreme 18% loss to inflate the fwhp figure. Point is...a 351w block will take some abuse properly built and tuned.....if I don't have the "dinero" to go aftermarket, I'll build what I have and make sure I do everything possible to prevent it from breaking......if it does....I'll make sure I plan for it.....in the meantime, I'll enjoy what I can afford. It's worked so far...

RE: FRPP 351w sportsman block
the shear though that drivetrain loos would be a set percentage is idiotic.
There is no way in hell a 1000 bhp engine is going to make 800rwhp.... its just not going to happen. Parasitic loss cannot be assumed as a percentage of power to be set as a factor against EVERY engine. the 15% and 20% figures are the loss seen in a STOCK motor.
