ORIGINAL: onetrickpony

I would call Ford and talk to them about that. If it is a recall they have to fix it.
Thats what I thought too, and I spent quite a while going around in circles with Ford, not the dealership, but the actualy company. I got fed up, and called the NHTSA about it. The way he explained to me is that the recall is only good for 10 years from the recall date, and the date on this expired last year. He also stated that over 780,000 vehicles has this problem, and were recalled, so he suggested I go in an try to talk to them to se if they would fix it since it was a obvious problem, but that since it is out of date, they are really not obliged too.

I posted a problem similiar to this a couple of months ago. The ignition switches are notoriously bad in our cars. Mine was falling apart. Just replace the switch and you should be fine. The connector still looks like it would be fine.

I don't think the connector is good anymore. That is why tghe blower and blinkers weren't workign anymore, was cuz the connector had melted so much that it wasn't making a connection to the igniton plug anymore. I may try to see if I can fix it up a bit, but most likely will have to do a splice and dice job. Ugh....

Nope, mine did the same thing! The blinkers would not work and the blower would not work, also the reverse lights would not come on. The ignition switchis loose and if you take it off, if you already haven't, It will come apart in your hands with only a slight tug.

Not sure mine will fall apart, the reason we found out it was that, my bro in law started pulling and pushing on different connectors while the car was running, and all the sudden the a/c kicked in. pulled the lug on what he had hit, and seen the mess of melted plastic.

I am going to try to see if ford will atleast supply the part for me, and I'll fix it myself sinec it was a recall item, but out of the recall time.
