RE: whats this combo worth? (opinions please)
I would go to CHP if thier website would give me a price. I hate having to call when I can figure out my options before i order. And they've only spent the money they need to spend to run thier class. The class Im running you dont need that much. Ill never shoot a 300 shot of gas. Ill never put a turbo on. I probably wont run a supercharger. N/A All the way.
Im not looking to be the next John Force, but merely putting together a budget mustang that i can play around at the track and enter a few events if need be. Im not trying to build something to run with Bob Kurrgan or Chris Tuten

trust me, i consulted dss on building me a 347 stroker with the parts i picked and their block and they quoted me $10,000 and 475 engine dyno horsepower. that is crappy considering my local speed shop is putting one together for me right now with a dart sportsman block and canfield heads and their guarantee is 575-600 engine dyno horsepower and thats including a holley 750 carb and tuned ready to go ALL MOTOR for $7,000. DSS is a joke

They probably underratethier horsepower numbers. The guy on the phone told me with the heads i wanted to run and the cam they can install, he said i should get 500 pretty easy. Were you asking for the whole motor from carb to oilpan? For a long block (ive already got the intake and carb) is only $6,000 but to get a different cam installed you have to add that to the cost? Im by no means saying that D.S.S is the best, but by far they are cheaper than any other place ive looked.

With that kind of money being spent, i wouldnt try to do it myself. Ive done all the suspension work and wiring, but im no motor man. Other than CHP, who do you guys recommend for a crate engine that i can have built to my specs "WITHOUT" having to use a Dart/World block

The reason people go to D.S.S is cause their in all the mustang magazines, besides you won't hit low 10's high 9's anyway. You would be lucky to be in the 10's at all, plus you might split the block, we are just trying to save you time and money

check out timsengines.com thats the guys who are building mine and they will do yours however you want. i know them personally because i grew up with the owners son and still race with him all the time. he doesnt drag race much anymore cause hes racing outlaws that are turning 7000 rpm constantly for 25 laps they are about 5 miles from me and have been there doing custom race motors for over 30 years now if that gives you any idea of their skills.

maximum 5.0 ci is 313ci. its 15lb for every 1ci over the 313 limit. a 347 will make you add 510lbs over the 3110 base weight.
the heads are illegal as the valves are to big. next best would be the trickflow tw's but them give you another 50lb weight penility.
If your cylinder head is not on this list, it is prohibited.
