3G vs 6G alternator

Why would I want a 3g over a 6g. Isn't the 6g smaller and lighter, runs cooler and has less accesory drag on the engine. From what I have found they both put out the same 130 amps.
Is the 6g less reliable or harder too install?
Any input would be a big help. I plan to buy one today before my electric fan comes in.
