factory tach

RE: factory tach
IF you want your stocker to work, you should only need to locate one wire.I don't know if an 85 is similar to an 87 (I thinkits different being that it's a carbed motor from the factory.) On my 87 it is a dark green/yellow wire on the gray main harness coming from the driverside firewall next to the brake booster. If your car is carbed, then hook that wire to the negative side of your coil. You need to hook the engine side of that wire to the coil.
(By engine wire I mean where it connects, you want to cut it on the side of the connector that the engine harness is connected to. Not the side that runs into the interior of the car.) I just hooked my stock tach up to my carb converted 351.
