Default SVO rearend - whats it worth?

well my rearend has alot of play in it.

i can pull the wheels back and forth probably close to 1/8 of an inch and it makes a noise i cant describe goin over about 20 mph. kinda sounds like theres a penny inside the rim (and no.. there isnt)

theres a svo for sale localy. its a piece of junk. rotted roof but its got what appears to be a nice rearend. he wants $500 for it. i could get the whole car for $1000

what should i offer him?

depends on the year svo I believe the 86 came with an 8.8 with discs?? before that they would of been 7.5's if it's an 86 I say go for it but if it's earlier than that I wouldn't pay more than a few hunderd for it as you could buy a complete rear with gears already installed for around 850.00

$500 is too much for a used rearend.

You should be able to get a 94-98 mustang 8.8 rear for under $250. i know the axles are .75" wider but i think that the svo rearend was even wider than that.

yeah 500 is too much!!! I paid 300 for a complete 8.8 new ones are 850.00 in my opinion if you have to pay more than half the cost for a used one thenwhat it costs new....just spend the extra for the new one

$800 for the whole car and part it out. Then you get the rear for free plus make money
