If you got a new block from a friend and crank and the bore is stock take your forged pistons out of your block and put them in the good block buy a berry hone and scuff and dip that puppy and paint her blue and call her new!!! if that doesn't suit you just buy a set of hyper pistons I run kieth black .200 dome hyperutectic pistons and spray them they work great for the money!!

kieth blacks use different skirt clearance than pretty much everyone else and they have weird ring locations. i have heard alot of people say they have trouble with em. they may have fixed their problems, but the federal mogul/trw/sealed power stuff is tried and true

Never I repeat never go with the cheap way, the first thing I remember learning from a guy when rebuilding motors was, buy the best stuff you can't afford, cause your going to abuse it! I buy the the better parts when price is an issue, so Forged or Hyper? Forged hands down, cost 20 % more but worth every penny! Or be cheap, run slow, and pay again later for better parts.Just my 2 cents worth.

Maybe early on they did but alot of it was due to people not reading the instructions on piston ring installation most people just installed a standard set of rings and slapped them together which would cause the top ring land top break off you have to run a wider gap on the top ring then the lower since I built my motor for the juice that was never an issue since I custom file fit all my rings wider so as to be able to spray it. I've never had a problem with them and it's been three years with 58 cc heads it's 11.1 compression and let me tell you this sucker hauls A**! But there are certainly better choices out there. At the time these were fairly new so I thought I 'd try them If I roasted them no expensive loss paid 230.00 however to my suprise they still are going strong

20% more? if i could have gotten forged flattops for 120 bucks i would have been on that like stink on sh*t. and for the record, going cheap is getting cast pistons - which is what ford, chevy, and dodge used for like 75 years without problems, so stepping up to the hyper's is a move in the right direction. are they the best? no. but if you know what your application is going to be they can be a great bang for the buck item.
