Default Exhaust Recommendations

I am looking to upgrade my exhaust system (from stock). I would like to go with new headers/exhaust manifold, cats, the whole thing. Any recommendations on what I should get? I am having a hard time finding high airflow cats for my stang (90 GT). Any help would be appreciated.

every part of my exhaust is mac an i like it. expecially the dumps because i dont like the way tips look. the macs also have a solid sound that is steady threw the rpm range, while my hookers where quiter at idle than driving. id just get an off road x or h pipe instead of getting high flow cats because they are alot cheaper, will generally give you more power and a better sound. it is easy to swap out when you have to get your e test too.

bassani makes good off road h and x pipes too but mac are really good too. I have bbk shorty headers and bbk x pipe with flowmasters its a damn good set up more of a budget hook up though. it all depends on if you want to go all out for a premium set up or if your lookin at best bang for your buck. i would consider if you want more power or noticabilty with soun. If you go with off road h-pipe your going to sacrifice performance for deep throtier sound if you go with th e x pipe you will get more power but with a raspier sound. I personally chose more power, and i think it sounds great how it is. I dont attract too much attention from the police unless i get on it in front of them, but with the h pipe they'll here you 5 miles away even if your drivin like a granny...lol

I love my set-up.. I have some BBK shorty headers, a 2 1/2" H-pipe no cats, and the American Thunder Exhaust cat-bak designed for our cars. I get a lot of compliments, ask mstng675l or StangerGT, They've heard it.

to but you in the right way on your hunt ..any exhaust will do fine..why you say?....just going from a 2.25" to a 2.5" is why the horsepower increases.. evenone has a different design to give a hp or 2...and unless you have a highpowered car you can never take fully advantage of it so why spend all your $$ on ..too many of the guys here go for names shi t....just a waste of $$$ that can go on other hipo parts......so maybe try this

unequal headers
2 cat h_pipe if you must pass smog
flow master or the like and some 3" tailpipes if you wants looks if not use the 2.5 pipes
friend of mine sells coated header for like 150.00..but there are plenty of used one out there for under 100.00
hope this help

if there is one mod out there that is a total waste of money its unequal length headers.

you wont headers to grow with your car, not keep it choked. unequal length headers make too much backpressure and for the extra hundred bucks you could make an easy 10HP more with equal lengths.

I'm a firm believer of the eq headers......I only used them..but in most low hp engines as most guys have there isn't much or any hp to gain from the extra 75.00 and the time it takes to install them
