Default Auto tranny

Will an AODE from a 94 or 95 Mustang GT work ok in an 89? My car is currently a 4cyl auto and is getting a 302 conversion done. I have an ecu from a 91 lincoln mark 7 to run it all. Do you think the lincoln harness willwork also? It is an automatic as well.

you'll need to swap the complete wire harness because the "e" in aode stands for electronic meaning the ecu uses vital data inputs from the tranny sensors to accurately calculate shift points and firmness of shifts. if you know how to wire things you can get around some of the technical issues but to be safe swapping the wire harness is best for ease of installation.

Did the Lincoln have the HO engine? If not, you're going to ahve an issue with the firing order as well. Might be easier to grab a computer out of a 94 or 95.

A 91 Mark7 had an AOD. The 94 mustang had an AODE. If you already have the trans, you can buy a standalone controller. If you dont, it'd be cheaper to get a AOD.

The mark 7has an H.O. motor. Will the harness from the Mark 7 work?

Thanks for the replies. I'll get an AOD and a complete harness from the wrecking yard this weekend. Thanks again!
