Oil pressure problem and gas consumption problem.

Oil pressure problem and gas consumption problem.
I have a new problem. I drove from Tacoma, WA to Kent, WA tonight. I was doing probably 70 to 75 mph the entire way. First of all, it took me almost a half of a tank of gas, and it is probabaly 25 min round trip at that speed. Maybe 40 miles round trip, 50 at most. I just changed the plugs, and I plan on doing the cap and rotor on pay day. That just seems to be a lot of gas, even for a V8. I also put in a new air filter.
What cap and rotor do you guys suggest? At Schucks the MSD package deal is actually cheaper then the rest.
2nd, On the way there and on the way back, my oil pressure would drop, and my check enigine light would come on. On the way there, I was at a stop light, and there was a burning oil smell and plumes of blow by looking smoke coming out from under my car. I drove the block to my destination and it had quit. Than it did it on the free way on my way home. So I am thinking oil sending unit maybe??? I know the oil needs changed, and again I was planning on doing that on pay day. I was also thinking maybe a partially clogged oil filter??? I dunno, anyone else had these problems??

RE: Oil pressure problem and gas consumption problem.
if your check engine light came on you need to run a koeo/koer test and find out what code is being set that may clue you in as to what the problem is with the fuel consumption.
