Default Catback questions

First, are the factory catbacks that came on our cars mandrel-bent, or just crush-bent? Also, what diameter is the piping on factory catbacks?

Finally, what poses the most restriction on the factory catback...the mufflers or the piping. I ask all these questions because I think the previous owner of my car just welded Flowmasters onto the stock piping. Will I feel a power difference from getting an aftermarket 2.5" catback? Keep in mind that I felt a power difference from installing my X pipe--my butt dyno is sensitive.

Default RE: Catback questions

whenI did my header back exhaustI used the stock mufflers for a month, but used magnaflow 3.5" pipes. If i can remember it was 2-2.5" on the factory pipes. going from 3.5 to 2/2.5 mufflers was retardedly restrictive butI could really feel a whole new pull off the line. When I installed the flowmastersI felt a little bit differance from stock, but with my 16 year old hormonesI was more focused on flooring it by chai vang's accord.

My 93 had the stock pipes welded directly into flowmasters, looked very resrictive to me.Now thatI dida complete header back system, including 2.5" x-pipe and cat-back, it breaths much better now! I believe stock was 2.25"

Thanks, fellas. Now I just have to decide which catback to get...Flows or Bassani.
