Need help guys - diagnose this..
Just bought the car. Ran horrible. Figured it needed a tune-up. Replaced the plugs, distributor cap, rotor. Wires were already new. Hooked up the oil pressure meter, runs 30 psi hot(good). Vacuum is 20 in at idle(good)
Starts fine, idles great. Driving under load, flat as hell. No power, stutters a little, just plain no power. If I floor it it clears for a second then starts stumbling again. I just put a can of Seafoam in it. Going to let that soak a little. Already started smoking like hell before I finished the can.
Timing is at 12 degrees.
What should I look at? Could it fuel related or ignition?
Thanks, Mike

check fuel filter, check fuel pressure, clean the mass air meter and or run a koeo/keor test. there are a lot of things that can cause a load /acceleration hesitation.

yeah it's fuel or spark related i can guarantee that
what gap on the plugs ? regap small and see what happens like .040"
what coil is on it ? did you test it ?
like stated above i'd replace the fuel filter, also try to get a guage on there even if just temp, get it under load and see what the fuel pressure does, it should spike to about 38-ish +/- 2-4 psi , from idle to wot it will vary from 36 to about 42 psi
if it is fluttering or erratic there is a fuel issue for sure, i'd bet the reg or the pump, if not you know it's spark

if you have a spare few hours, and the proper tools, drop the gas tank and look inside.
you might have a broken pump baffle, preventing gas flow through the pump.
dont be fooled by a pressure test. the pressure will still show as good, but the volume will be much lower, and pretty much un-testable in a driveway.

Almost got it. I did research and found the the MAP(now BAP) had the vacuum line connected to the charcoal canister(duh). I removed the end to the BAP and hooked it up to the front outlet nozzle underneath the intake (Edelbrock). Ran friggin awesome. Completely different car.....but... after it heats up, it starts to "miss" again. Not as bad as before, but still there. The idle is loping a little too. ARGH!!! Anyone have a diagram of the vacuum lines from an Edelbrock upper? Will the timing be off? I adjusted it before the vacuum line mess-up.
