speedo gear ?'s

RE: speedo gear ?'s
you don't need to buy a new cable, just the correct new nylon gear to go with the gears in the rear. the cable goes into the tranny and is attached with one bolt which you remove and then pull the plug out and the gear is on the end of the cable attached with a metal clip. remove the clip with a small flat bladed screwdriver and then slide the old gear off and install the new gear and replacle the metal clip. then plug the whole works back into the tranny and replace the bolt and you're done. don't know if you will loose any tranny fluid when you do this on a 5 speed so be prepared with a rag to plug the hole just in case.

well roundman has a auto so i think they dont leak any thats why he said not sure about 5 spd's, and i dont know if the cable is still there cause the guy put a new tranny in. so ill have to check that out.

if you jack up the car from the driver's side only so the tranny tilts over some, you won't have to worry about any tranny fluid running out the hole when you remove the speedo gear either!
