Default Starting Issues Still

i'm still having starting issues and its really geting old. i have an 88lx and it starts fine when the engine is cold then when i take it to go get gas or just out for a rip around, when I SHUT IT OFF it will make one crank and then jsut click.it acts like a dead battery but its not.it has a brand new battery in it and a new starter relay. if i just keep cranking to try to get it to spin over a black ground wire goin to my battery will get real hot. i am lost and slowly goin f*cking insane lol, so any adivce will be greatly appreciated. its kinda embarassing to have to push my car and pop start it everywheres.

Well if its fine when its cold, and sucks when it heats up, then it sounds like heat soak on the starter. Do you still have the OEM ginormous starter on there?

I agree with the dark side of the force sounds like a old or weak starter getting hot.

+1

My 93 GT had a mini starter on it. Never had a problem with starting while hot and it also is WAY easier to take off/put on.

Also could be timing. Where do you have your timing set?
