Default Ground wire gauge question????

I put in a new hatchback window w/defroster grid because original car didn't have one!! It it wired in with a relay but sometimes it clicks on and then off. So I am wondering if I wired in a heavier gauge ground wire would that improve the situation?? Should I also increase the guages of the other wires to and from the relay to help reduce resistance????? If so what gauge would be needed for the electrical demand of the rear defroster??? It is being switched with the factory switch and oem ford relay...

I am going to bump this again to see if I can get some input. Also, would grounding posts help the overall efficiency of the vehicles electrical system?

not sure what you mean by that? anyways from the sounds of it....might be an improper grounding. check your connections. you want your ground gauge to be the same if not bigger than your power. that makes an efficient circuit.

Check your ground and your whole circuit...make sure you dont have any shorts any where...do you have a fuse in this set up?

I was just thinking that the vehicle chasis itself in some spots might not be the best grounding spots, and by putting a grounding post in certain areas you can have more secure grounding connections with the wire being fastened down on the grounding block" similar to a power distribution block you would hook up near the battery". This way you wouldn't have to worry about screws coming loose that hold the negative side wire, since the ground distribution block would be securely fastened down. On the other note , I dont think my ground wire is the the correct guage so I will do some wiring corrections in the days to come.

This is fused using the fuse on the factory fuse panel for that accessory. A friend wired it in for me, but I think I need to go over all the wires and see what kind of job he did, and fix up the wiring if and where it needs it. I know the relay works because I can hear it click on and off, it just won't stay on sometimes!
