hey, well i agree i think you'll hit 13 pretty easy and if i were you i would invest in some weldwheel drag lights and some street legal drag radials.......balance them and have them ready so when you want to race just switch them out, because more weight sux lol.....i think you'll see a lot quicker starts also/ if you are willing to spend the money

yes they can Ls1Mustang he went 14.2 back when he first got his 92 lx 5 speed. that was on street tires with nothing more then a K&N drop in. this was done at Keystone raceway [now known as PRP] so yes its possible. just because some ppl cant drive doesnt mean everyone else is going to run poorly

Ok so that would mean a STOCK GT 5.0 would run what? 14.3 STOCK?? HIGHLY doubtful! That was my point.. They run in the 15 range stock, which is what he ran, on 'bald' tires I guess.

It has nothing to do with poor driving, it has everything to do with the Mustang 5.0 was tested by all the major magazines, and shows such as Car and Driver at good tracks such as Pamona Raceway under good conditions and every single one averaged a 15.2-15.6 With 89-93 5.0 5spd's, this info can be found on MANY different sites on the net, so I HIGHLY doubt that some random person can drop in a K&N and drop a second at PRP.

Im wonder the same thing, When I went to to track I was wondering why most people were running 15 and some 14's in mustangs. People say you can get 14's out of a stock mustang...YEA RIGHT, people who say you can get in the 14's with a bone stock mustang are magazine racers. They just look up times on the internet and think they can run that. Or in fact people say LS1's are low 13's stock...My ***, I havent seen any stock LS1 run low 13's, In fact I dont even think they are capable of low 13's stock. Most people are internet racers/magazine racers, and they put out times that are BS because some magazine said... or I heard someone beat... or my cousin raced...they are BS. Mabye its just the tracks where I live and the conditons of the tracks, but I dont see any times that a magazine said to be true, Mabye at sea level with the ABSOLUTE PRO driver and PERFECT conditions, the times arent going to happen.

But how you drive has alot to do with it too still. I had a 2001 Mustang GT with Cat Backs and Mufflers, not even a K&N filter almost stock and one night I raced a 68 Nova spanked it bad, 1999 Camaro LS1 spanked it bad and then the dude in the Camaro's friend had a 01 Cobra and went home and got it and wanted to race me. Went out on the Highway raced him 4 times and took him everytime in the 1/4 he was soo mad he went home and brought out his 1/4 mile thingy that plugs into your lighter and took a few 1/4 passes with me driving and him riding in my car he was real real mad at his cobra. I was doing high 13's low 14's in my car. Just that I drove mine well and always got amazing launches shifted my gears real hard. it came a a price though my tranny went 4 months later. Soo there is no basic time set of stock 1/4's there is alot of varibles if some dude is scared of hurting his baby then there is no way he is goign to get good times. Those times were at sea level as well.

That's not the point I was making, all i was saying is that when he said his tires were bald, they actually were BALD, not that his car is a factory freak and can run numbers that aren't actually possible.

That was your arguement not mine chief.

No I know, I just want to hear people's input on this because where I am from the track conditions are harsh, it's dusty, and at 3000 ft. above sea level, no way can a stock GT run 14's here (87-93) The new GT's 2000-up do however hit the occasional 14.6 on a good day.. I am waiting for it to warm up.. It is in the 30's at the track right now, the wind is blowing dirt all over the place, it is just really horrible, not ideal track conditions, I hate winter with a passion.

Gears make all the difference, I have a CAI, full exhaust (flows), and 4.10's.. A guy there had a 90 GT with full exhaust (MagnaFlow) and 3.55's, he was running .6 seconds slower than I was.. yes the driver makes a difference no doubt!

I know a stock mustang gt 5 speed can run 14s because i did it in mine. i ran 14.8 on bald street tires and that was when my car was completely stock. mine is a 93 gt too which has only 205hp instead of the 225hp so it is definitly possible and everyone with a stock 5.0 5 spd should get into the 14s but thanks for all the input.

For you newbie racers... If you suck at driving your 5.0 and you cant 14s with a 5 speed car then you suck or ur car does.. I hear typing away about these so called people well i am one of those so called people.. So my 14.2 E.T.s are fake and my 14.6 is fake with my GT vert. Oh BTW bone stock!! Its simple learn to drive and learn to tune. As for a stock LS1 running low 13s!! Yes they do any 6 speed car can run low 13s with some tires and i have seen 12.9 with minor mods, so before you go being a magazine racer your self make sure you know what your talking about cause some of you here are being jealous or closed minded. Most of the 5.0 drivers i seen running 15s was AODs with 2.73s so sure it gonna be low 15s. Also most 5.0s are abused and need a rebuild motor, 100k of abuse wont usally yeild 14s. So if you still wanna talk smack ill be @ Beechbend race way in March and you can watch my Stock vert run mid 14s on street tires.
