I doubt they changed the in tank filter, usually scheduled maintenence will only be the inline filter. The only time the tank filter will be changed, if there's a problem with the pump.

86HOGT.... I was waiting to read that. I SERIOUSLY doubt it has anything to do with youre fuel system. I pretty much laughed my whole way through this post. lol. Sorry but i did. These are the craziest answers i have ever heard. The only bright solution i heard was abotu the battery. But with a new battery. I would say....... Starter Solenoid. BAM! Just like that. Im a FORD technician BTW.

So just get a new starter solinoid? Is there an aftermarket one I can get by MSD or something that would be better? Im not too up on all MSD's electronic stuff.

I think the only reason you were laughing is you didn't read the start of the thread. You know the part where Aliate X said it only started after CRANKING for around 4 seconds. If it's cranking then the starter and starter solenoid are functioning. You need to go back to technician school

Yeah it cranks just fine, really fast too. Where I bought the battery, they checked the system and installed the battery for 20 bucks, only problem is, I dont know exactly what they checked when they installed it, the starter soliniod might be part of that.

If the engine is spinning over at a reasonable RPM with the starter then that means the starter, battery, and starter solenoid are all good. Probably what they checked was the alternator voltage with the engine running to make sure the system would keep the new battery charged. The starter system path is a red herring. What all of the others said earlier regarding your fuel system is the most likely cause. Think along the lines of fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, fuel quality, etc. You may consider running a treatment like Seafoam through the fuel system and see if that helps. If the car has been running and you cut it off, does it start right back up quickly? If so, then the fuel pressure may simply be bleeding down on the system after the car sits for a while and it may take a few seconds to build back up. Likewise, after the car has sit for a while, what happens if you trun the swith to the RUN position, but do not crank the engine, for a few seconds? If it starts quickly then, that would further suggest that the fuel pressure needs to build back up after the car has been sitting.

Good Luck.................

just an idea but why dont you try a bottle of dry gas. just a thought. prevents gas line freeze and takes water out of your fuel system if you got any in there.

try this, turn the key to the on position and listen for the fuel pump to come on and wait several seconds for the pressure to build up and the fuel pump will turn off. then hit the start position and see if it doesn't fire right up.
