mac CAI, what's the real hp gains if any?
Lots of online storeslists a mustang dynoed withmac's 86-88 cai having gained 14.4 hp to the rear wheels, now that alone almost pisses me off enough to not buy it, but i have alittle cash to waste on it's pretty chrome haha. i hate "magizine racing" and 14.4 hp seemsextreamly high for a car with sort of a factory cai already. so my question is if i remove the stock air box and air silencer and install that what am i gaining if anything, i'm basically just doing it for the looks like i said haha oh well, oh btw it's the fender mounted type.

im not gonna read the post. the title is enough. 2 hp at most to the rear wheels. i will say though removing air silencer is the biggest part of this mod. i also noticed a difference with the initial take off, not as sluggish. little more crisp launch. other than that.....its all in your head.

Responsivness is the only real gain you can expect to get from it. I went the cheap route on CIA and got it off of americanmuscle.com and threw a k&n filter on later.

i just installed one on my car, and you're not really gonna notice a huge difference. the main thing is that it looks better in the engine bay, and you will hear a slight whining sound when you accelerate. the power difference isn't as much as many people say it is
