Default Temp gauge showing hot

Just bought a 1994 5.0 Convert. Even if the engine is stone cold the temp gauge starts out reading dead center of "NORMAL". As the car warms up it gets up to the top of "NORMAL" zone withing 1o mins then goes on up to the red zone. I was told this was a common problem on these that the temp gauge sender needs replaced. I went to get a sender and the parts guy said there was 2 sersors. One on top of the thrmostat housing that runs the fan and another one that threads into the block with 1 threaded lead for the temp gauge. Does this sound right and lastly where is this second sender they sold me? I looked today but could not find it on the sides of the block.

Default RE: Temp gauge showing hot

the sensor located in the intake manifold is what works the temp gauge, the other one is located in the small metal pipe running across the front of the intake manifold going over toward the heater hose connections. this one is the ECT that signals the computer.
