Default Cleaning fuel injectors

I've read the fordfuelinjection site, but they require you to get new filters, pintle caps, and spacers. I don't feel like doing this, cleaning might not even be necessary, but I figure while I have the engine down, might as well.. Can I just take the o-rings and the filter out and soak the filter? What about the actual plastic injector. Will this ruin anything that needs to be replaced? Thanks

there's places that will ultrasonic clean them for around $125 and they put in new screens and pintle caps and orings. it doesnt make sense to rebuild your engine and not do the injectors too.

You can send them in to a few places and they'll clean them out nicely and you can get a flowsheet for each one. Otherwise I would just get a rebuild kit for them.

So we're not doing anything is what you're saying?

Seriously, what if I just take off the o-rings and put them in cleaning solution for a night? What can it mess up if the o-rings aren't there.

it will not clean the screen and the tarnish in the injector....is about 17.50 per injector to clean, rebuild and flow.....even if you bought 8 new ones they all would flow the same. I use this palce
