Getting arc off wires..HELP!
So, I just replaced my plugs with some autolite 25's (since most of you reccommend them). I have been having trouble with a bit of a stumbling, "lumpy" idle, and the change of plugs (from ngk platinum, made little if notno difference.
Here is the thing I noticed...
I turned out the lights in the garage to look at the wires for any arcs. There were no arcs at the distributor, but at the plug boots onalmost everyplug there was light flashingin the space between the end of the boot, going over the plug, and the block.have never seen this before in any other car.My caris an 87 GT with no mods exceptmufflers. Can anybody tell me if this is normal and if not what could I do to fix this because I feel it may be contributing to my lumpy feeling idle.
BTW, the wires are ford racing 9mm and are fairly new. I tried puttingone of myold 8mm wires in place of one of the ford racing wires and it did the same thing. Not a real sharp arc but more of a diffuse flashing at the base of each plug while engine running. Please help, thanks!

RE: Getting arc off wires..HELP!
THATS NOT GOOD
you didnt even use a water spray bottle with a tab of salt to find them, and I was told your ECM dont like that either, so id fix it, new cap, rotor button and all.
make sure all plugs are gapped properly

I don't think there is a problem with the cap or rotor because they are practically new. The flashes I can see are ONLY at the plugs. Could it be the coil or something?

RE: Getting arc off wires..HELP!
Did you push the boot ALL the way ONTO the plug? There will be resistance when you push as the clips on the plug wires have never been used. You will need to push the boot HARD until it 'snaps' into place. I'm guessing you put the boot on and simply pushed until you feltresistence but no 'snap' or 'pop'.
That's what I'm guessing.
