Default idle question

just got my car running and I'm having an idle issue. the car will run good than all of a sudden the idle will jump up between 1500 - 2000. everything on the motor has been replaced with new parts. i looked for vacuum leaks and ican't tell if there is or not. besides getting on a computer is there any other way to find out what might be going on?

wrong. anything between .6 and .99 is ok.
setting it doesn't matter. the computer automatically compensates for wherever the setting is.

I was having the same problem. I checked for leaks several times and could not find any. Took it my mechanic and he found several leaks on the lower intake. This caused tons of idle issues. I would take your car to a local garage and let them smoke the block. It may save you a ton of heartache and money.
