It amazes me at times what people will complain about. The scan tool is less than $30.00. It will check the codes, stored and while engine running. It will also run a cylinder balance test, check the plug wires, injectors and every solenoid and relay in the engine. Itcan also assist in finding problems that a code has not been generated for.

So I can see why you would not want to spend $30.00 to work on your car. Buy a box of paper clips and a case of beer and be pathetic like the rest of us.

for the longest time.. I actually had memorized all the trouble codes for my 91 PGT. I also had the STI connector wired to a switch inside the car, so all I had to do was flip the switch with the car on, read the blinks, and i'd know what was wrong.

you can do the ole paper clip trick for free but if you just want to push a button on a scan tool then by all means spend the money but personally on these cars a scan tool is often a waste of money since you can't get a data stream to monitor signal inputs and outputs.

nope, and constantly do I run into bad wires, or signal fluctuations that does not fall outside the Ecm's parameter for a bad sensor(check engine light), that comes in as a MISFIRE or POOR PERFORMANCE.

shi@ like this messes up my flag sheet , ultimately , my paycheck[:'(]
