I know used gears are not always the best idea but mine were used when I installed them and they don't whine at all. They were factory take outs and had low miles on them. Maybe used gears are more likely to whine when they were installed in another car first and then u have them installed in yours, which i think would be a big difference when compared to factory installed gears... idk though, maybe i got lucky.

I am not advocating the used gears, but the 8.8 3.73's would fit in your car, but the T-Lok for 31spline axel would not. Gears dont cost that much. You have a T-5 with what gears, 2.73's or 3.08?
If you have 3.08's, gears form 3.55's and up would provide you with a noticable difference, it depends if you are looking for max perforamnce or a just a good improvement. 2.73 car can even get 3.27's and be happy, just depends what you want.

I just wanted to know because you will have to drop the tailshaft housing off your tranny, and replace the drive gear inside, if you decide to go with any gears lower than 3.55

ya dont get used gears i bought my 3.73s off sumit for 160 or somting and then bought the bearing and shim kit off 50resto for 50 bucks and had it installed for 300. make sure you call around and get prices for install, some dude wanted 1400 for a gear replacement[sm=bangbang.gif], but the guys that did it for me were just specialized in installing them and did a terrific job for the price they gave me

Figures. Well, maybe I'll just stick with 2.78's and be done with it. :|
