Default Stock gauges question.

I've grown tired of trying to makethe stock computer/w chipwork and am going to rip out all the stock fuel injection harness etc out and replace it with a MegaSquirt most likely. So here's my question:

Anyone know if youHAVE to have the stock computer to run the stock gauges?

I am fairly certain that you do not have to have the computer for your gages to work. I will know for sure when my project moves along but it may be a while as funds are low.
