Default burnout and alternator question

i have two quick questions that have been on my mind for a while now.

1) when i went to do a burnout only my right wheel was producing any smoke. can this be caused from the stock suspension going out?

2) when i rev it up my headlights get brighter.. is that caused from the alternator charging up?

thank you.

Older mustangs are bad about their trac lok(sp?) slipping. I forget if the LX 5.0's even had it though.
Just do a burnout, if it doesn't spin both, stop and start again till it spins both.

Mine still spins both at first try.

Default RE: burnout and alternator question

Your trac-lok needs to be rebuilt(this is the term for the limited slip unit in your rearend). The right rear is lifted up because the way the force is applied to the rearend, therefore it loses traction and only it spins. the trac-lok is supposed to apply equal force to both.

The alternator doesnt produce full output til around 2000rpm, especially if you have underdrive pullies, gettin brighter is normal, just watch ur voltage gauge to make sure it doesnt steadily climb, that would be your voltage regulator going out.

The trac lok needs to be overhauled. If you're still running the stock alternator, the are low out put and the problem you are having is normal. Time to upgrade the charging stsem to a 3g alt.
