"roller motor" and "world class" trans are 2 of the biggestmisconceptions running around the 5.0 circles
every 5.0 stang from '85 had both, but some refuse to believe it for some reason.

The 85 roller motor has a spider in the middle of the lifter valley. Basically a web the has finger that comes out to stop the each lifter from turning in the hole. A Roller block will have threaded holes in it for mounting the spider down. One hole in the fron of the valley and one in the back.

85 was the first true year for the roller cam motor but some late production 84's snuck out with them most of them were the 20th anniversary gt350's. ford was originally gunna release the roller motor for 84 but had some problems and waited

Look in your lifter valley for "XXX" then you know you've got a roller motor. Or maye just pull a lifter out the next time you have the intake off.
