Default Long Tube Header sizes

Since i was accused (guilty) of thread jacking i had to make my own :P

I'm ready to order my long tubes today but I'd like to know if anyone knows the difference between the 1-3/4 headers and the 1-5/8 headers. are the 1-3/4 that much better for an extra $60? i plan on doing the headers and midpipe in a few hours so if one of these is easier to install than the other i will take that one.

just fyi, the engine is a gt-40 crate with stock intake (will be a holley soon) and stock fuel injectors (will be 24 pounders soon).

before that question can be answered, are they equal or unequal length headers?

Any machine work to the head?

What exhaust are you running underneath.

they are the bbk headers from Summit and 50resto. they do not look like equal length and do not say it so i think its safe to say they are unequal length.
heads have no machine work, they were bought new with the crate.
exhaust will be the headers i'm asking about, a BBK offroad H, and i will use the flowmaster catback i currently have just to save money for now

you want the smaller ones,

1 5/8 ftw

That would help out with the drag and low-mid rpm ramp

(BBK offroad H, and i will use the flowmaster catbac
k)

You only need the bigger pipes if you have a turbo or supercharger. As far as the O2s go, just go to the part store and get some Bosch ones.
