muddy brown coolant

muddy brown coolant
Hi went to flush and change the coolant in a car I just purchased and when I opened the radiator cap it was a brown muddy mess. From what I have heard with this situation the previous owner must have mixed green and orange coolant together. the reservoir was empty. So I obviously need to flush it. my question is can I do a normal flush or did this damage any of the cooling system. It has an aluminum radiator and has aluminum heads. I have only driven the car once and it did not show any signs of overheating. Thanks in advance

RE: muddy brown coolant
Sounds like a bad head gasket! Combustion gasses entering the coolant system causes nasty muddy looking coolant. Do a coolant system pressure check and cyl compression check to find out for sure.
