Default safty issues

i have been looking to buy a project car for myself. i curretly drive a 1995 v6 stand and i am curretly looking for a 5.0

my question is about safty. 1990-1993 stangs are they only that offer driver airbags.

is it possible to put airbags in a car early then 1990? or should i just focus on finding a 1990-1993 stang

realize that its not just the air bag that your putting in... which is a few hunded bucks... its also all the sensors, wiring, computer, etc... idk if its worth the effort, i know personally , i wnt do it... i have an 88, so no air bag... then again... my seatbelt doesnt work... so uh yea...
