Stripped Intake bolt

Stripped Intake bolt
My car problems keep getting bigger. The new garage called and said my car was fixed finally after 36 days. It is running better than it ever has BUT!!!
Today I was cleaning the engine compartment and a rag got caught on a bolt that is right behind the distributor going from the upper to the lower. I grabbed the rag and the bolt came right out. I got a 1/2 inch socket and attempted to tighten the bolt thinking that it was just over looked. NOPE... they stripped it. It just spins round and round and round. Damn it.... It has been non-stop shop problems for 6 frickin weeks....
Can I just tap and re-thread this to solve the issue?

RE: Stripped Intake bolt
with cars that have age...that kind of crap is bound to happen...no matter how careful you or a shop tech is.....aluminum is soft it happens......so drill it out and helicoil it.......and don't blame them....except for the fact they should have noticed that[:@]

RE: Stripped Intake bolt
Not pissed at them just the situation. This has been a nightmare from hell over the last 6 weeks. Tired of having problems that others have caused.
Thanks for the short and sweet info. Looks like I have something to do on Saturday.
