Get some mdf and cut it in the same shape as the pad. Sand the edges round with sand paper, and cover it in vinyl from a local fabric shop (walmart doesnt sell vinyl btw). Use 3M spray can glue and it will turn out fine. I did this and instead of cutting out the whole for dash vents, i cut holes to fit in 3 guages. Looks pretty nice being all one piece.
