The door handles are plastic and it is very common for them to break, you can get new ones at 50resto.com ... As for the whistling, check your weather stripping!
i just ordered a passenger door handle for my 87 fox at autozone monday. $25.83, free shipping, takes a week. this monday i'll have that sucker in there. and SDelgado, what door poppers are u talkin about? i dunno if the 91 lx door needs special tools, but i got mine off with sockets, a phillips screwdriver, and a t15 torx driver for the window handle.

another thing, dont slam your door by grabbing the top of the window while the windows are down, it slowly bends the outer window frame over time, eventually you'll get water leakage even if you replace your weather stripping. take a dollar bill and stick it in between the window frame and the door and shut it, if you can pull it out without resistance, do that on the entire window area, if the dollar pulls out without a slight of resistance then you'll need to slightly bend the door frame back, just "roll the window down first" and EASILY push the window frame back just a little bit that will usually fix the air problem, but that's only if your weather stripping is still in good shape.
