Default unknown problem

Hello,

so my car has been annoying me lately. When it is cold and i start my car, once I try to go, it bogs really bad and the rpms drop to like 300. Then i kinda power threw it and once I shift into second theres a big backfire. The problem gets better when it warms up but it still does it. I took it to a mechanic and he fixed a coolant leak, put in a new thermastat (seperate problem) and he flushed the injectors. He said they were really dirty. He then checked the fuel pump pressure or w/e and said the number should be between 30-40 and mine is 32. So could that be the problem...a weak fuel pump? I noticed when I use to start my car it would start right up but now it takes about a second longer.

This problem is annoying. Im starting to wonder if I need mufflers to give it more backpressure.

He flushed the injectors and told you they were dirty?

Change your fuel filter.

arrrghhh it wasnt the fuel filter.

my fuel pump is 33 psi's and idk what else the problem could be. The compression on each cylinder is great.

Sorry, I'm new to 5.0's, but what do they use for a cold-start bypass system? Backfiring is caused by running too rich, which would explain why you're bogging as well (improper air to fuel ratio). If it goes away when the engine is warm then it's pretty much related to a cold start air bypass system or cold start emissions system.

Now if you're talking about warm and cold WEATHER then it could be something like an AAT (Ambient Air Temperature) or IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor giving bad information.

Lets start over, when did this happen?

First ownership?

After mechanic visit?

When you punch the gas , does it take alot of time for the rpms to pick up? or just act as if you didnt hit the gas at all?

Check engine light ever come on?

Start by checking for stored codes, http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=13

this happened about 2 weeks after I got my exhaust done. I am the second owner...first guy was a older man that had a complete tune up before he sold it to me.

After mechanic visit it still did it but not as bad as before the injectors were cleaned. I also had a new thermostat and gasket put in. When I punch it, its alive and kicking like no other. Just when the rpm's are low it bogs. I remember when I first got the car id shift into 5th instead of 3rd on accident and it would still drive nicely. Wouldnt dare try that now. Check engine light has NEVER been on.

The mechanic pulled codes and got nothing. I will clean the MAF and check the fuel pressure regulator tonight as someone told me to try it.

thanks for the help man.

idk if it would be a sensor cause the CEL light would come on correct?
