I have seen a 460 in a 79 capri without having to cut any of the shock towers out the guy told me he had to lift the engine every time he had to change the spark plugs it looked pretty awsome in the car

I have thought about (eventually) putting a 429 in my 93, but I would go a different route. My plan is getting a efi 351 and then bore and stroke it out to 429 (that way I would have the 5.8 badge and be a "sleeper"). I have no clue what kind of stuff I would have to do. And I don't really care about getting new motor mounts and stuff like that, but one thing I really don't want to do is have a 4" cowl induction hood to fit the motor in (Nothing against cowl hoods, I just don't want one on my car).

Anyone know is this is possible/realistic?

Those engines fit in there REAL nice and TIGHT. I've built an 84' with a 460 and an 87' with the same.Boy are they fun.
I'm in the process of building an 89' with a 69' 429 cj motor.(cant wait)!
Its not that hard to put them in, and you would be suprised at how it drives.

you cant take a stock 351w out to 427 (429 with over bore in your case) you'll need a speical block that has deeper cylinder walls. that block is a specal order block that ford did not use in any of there production cars trucks or suv's. the stock 351w can be taken out to about 400ci at the max with over bore. sorry to break it to you. new motor mounts are cheap and you will not need to have a 4 inch cowl hood to clear the hood. if you read what i posted earlyer its as simple as installing a 2inch spacer between the k-member and the body. after dropping your suspension 2 inches in the fron to make up for the spacer, you woldnt be able to pick car out from any other stock 5.0 ... A 460 with a tubular k-member, aluminum heads and intake with a carb weighs hundreds of pounds less up front then a stock 5.0 ... a 460 with aluminum heads and intake weighs less than a stock 5.0 engine. i'd understand if you were just to scared to go for the 460 swap.. im sure its to much engine for you to handle anyways

i agree about them not being hard to put in... why dont you throw a 460 crank in your cj setup and make it a 460 cj?

Because the 429 that we have has a steel crank in it right now, plus it runs great at the moment.
Next year we will be doing the 557 CI stroker with 10:0.1 comp. It should make 700 hp and still be able to drive it to the track and on the street whenever we want.

Besides, we are going to keep it a 429 with a cam and dual quads to go against my supercharged smallblock 92'. I wonder which one would be faster?

I'm excited already.

Yeah I figure I will need one of those special blocks, because the old 351s aren't big enough. But I have seen stroker kits for 351s bringing them up to 408 or something so I was thinking something along that line then over bore the cylanders to get up to that magical 429 (I picked this because of the boss 429, as I am sure is evident).

But that would be nice having a stang that, for the most part, looks like anyother, except for the badge on the side.
