Head studs can only benefit you really. If you want to spend the money to convert, then I say go for it. It is just another piece of mind mod.

i know a guy personally who could port your heads as good or better than thumper...... but you probably dont have enough money, and its not cost effective when you can grab aftermarket for what he would charge.

I wouldn't bother porting those. Yes, there are gains to be had but for the price you can sell them for plus the cash to port them you could have an aluminum head for about the same price on the used market. Don't get me wrong, the GT-40's are fine heads but out of the box TW's will kick the crap out of a worked GT-40 head.

so i think i decided to keep my gt40 iron and get them ported. the question is what is a good company to get my heads ported by and has anyone use heads from them. and would it be worth to use head stuuds instead of bolts
Where are you from? Check with some local Mustangers or others that have had work done to their heads and ask for their recommendations. I saw in your post that you have everything for your heads, but see what you get for selling them and buying some good aluminum heads. GT40's a good head, depends on what you plan on doing down the line as far adding performance parts to your engine. Good luck.

You could use some AFR 165's that accept pedestal mount rockers. Even Edelbrock performer 5.0's can use pedestal rockers and would still beabout the sameas ported GT-40's but 50lbs lighter.

I'm not against GT-40's but there are easier ways to get the same gains IMO.

Well, if you are not worried about weight then why worry about more HP? A lighter car with less HP can be just as fast as a heavy car with more HP. If you suggest that either weight or HP isn't important than why worry about the other? What kind of gains do you think you're going to get from porting GT-40's? 10-15 HP? Consider that 50lbs = ~5HP in terms of performance. Given that and the fact that you're not going to gain a huge amount from port work, why would you feel that the equivelent to 5 HP isn't something you are worried about? Removing weight is like adding HP when it comes to performance so for roughtly the same cost and most likely an easier swap you could gain more by going aluminum than porting your irons.
