RE: staring problem after clutch replacement
It did on my 87 gt. I replaced the bat. then the solenoid, still no turn over just click. I replaced the dist. module after & It fired first try, thought it was weird myself , but it is still starting just fine.

RE: staring problem after clutch replacement
Sometimes when I push the clutch in and go to start mine wont turn over. I easily let out or in on the clutch and it will turn over. I guess this is the safety switch which will not allow it to start without clutch depressed. I adjusted my cable half dozen times, but still get the same effect. Not too worried cause it will start if I move the clutch pedal. Maybe this information can help you figure it out. I'de try to jump it off the solenoid. Make sure your in nuetral and the key is turned on (set e-brake) and see if it will turn over. If it does then something is not right in your clutch pedal from the replacement. Hope this helps.

if your sure the solenoid is good, and you get good power going to the starter, try hooking up a jumper cable to the bottom of the starter, and ground it to the body or to the negative battery terminal, and turn the key. For some odd reason the other day, my brother's starter just lost all ground. We eventually solved it by adding a ground strap from the bottom starter bolt to the body.

RE: staring problem after clutch replacement
this may sound odd but take it out of gear completely and crank it mine the clutch cable is too tight and isnt letting the clutch completely disengage and it has trouble starting cause of this also take the belt off and try to crank it....mine wouldnt start at all and starter would just click because the p/s pump locked up hope this helped ya
