Smog Pump issues
My '85 GT has a hole in the hose from the smog tube to the smog pump. The hose has a couple of hard 90 degree curves in each end and a regular hose won't substitute. I can't findthe hoseanywhere because Ford discontinued it back in 2001. I haven't been very successful in finding it in a junk yard or online either. Does anyone know of any websites or any other sourcethat might carry this item that I may have overlooked? I wish I could just pull the darn thing off, but I needthe smog pumpin my state. Any feedback or help would be greatly appreciated.

move to a diff state, then take it off lol. no just kiddin but if u just disconnected it will they actually know or do they test your emissions? if you really have to fix it just check all the junk yards for the old 5.0s. i know here in florida lots of them still have the smog pump, like the old crowns or the towncars.

Not exactly sure if they test the emissions or not, but I have a cat and I heard that you need the smog crap in order for the cat to work properly...anyone please correct me if I'm wrong though. I wouldlove nothing more than to just get rid of the darn the thing. I will try to check some more junk yards though.

not likely on that old of a motor. only time i see check engine lights on obd1s are when the vehicle is running seriously bad or somethings unplugged. but no cats will be fine, and even if they dont, **** em. lol

actually the smog pump does help the cats...
it helps the process and makes them last longer. i'm not sure how much longer or what difference it would make if you didn't have it.
it pumps air, not exhaust into the exhaust.

If you just want to get it past emissions, use some shrink wrap tape just before you take it in. Wrap it, heat it up and head over to get it tested. It should last at least that long.. No bs though some duck tape ober the shrink wrap might not be a bad idea..
