Default Ignition & Key question

So I bought an 89 notch out of a Junkyard for $600. It didn't have a key. So I went to Ford and got the new ignition and key set. The only problem is the old ignition (where you put the key in) doesn't want to come out. I don't know how exactly to get it out. Any advice would be great.

You're gonna have to drill or slide hammer the insdes out to remove the housing. It is made so that the key has to be in the run position to allow the lil pin in the bottom of the lock cylinder to be depressed then being able to remove it. Since you have no key, you'll have to do it the hard way.

The key has to turn to unlock the steering and turn on the accesories. Why would someone want to half *** their car?[&:]

While a push button start isa cool idea but Pro is right I have to unlock the steering wheel.

Thanks for the info Pro I knew I came back to MF for a reason. Guess I am just gonna have to drill it out.

I noticed your plate, and that you live in AZ. Give this guy a call, his name is JJ Singleton. Most of the major dealers in town use him for sublet work on steering ignitions and columns when they get theft recoveries in, and insurance companiesdo to. He has been a straight shooter when I used todeal with him- they are mobile, have a large box truck with thousands of columns on it etc.

JJ's lock and column...623-788-2787. The serve most of the Phx Area.
